6 Months Old!

Ever since Cooper was born, I’ve been writing him letters each month, mostly as a keepsake for me, telling him of the things that have been happening and accomplishments he has made that month.  Now that this site is up and running, I’ll be posting those letters so others can keep up with what he is doing and how fast he is growing.

Dear Cooper,

Sunday you turned 6 months old.  Half way to your first birthday. It’ll be here before we know it. You’re Great Grandma and Grandpa Kelton came to visit this month. This was the first time you met Ouida, but Grandpa Kelton was there the day you were born. They were very excited to see you and got to spend the whole day with you and Daddy while Momma was away at a church retreat.

The next weekend you went to your first Round Rock Express Baseball Game. Before the game, we had lunch at Chili’s and you sat in a high chair for the very first time. You were so tired by the time we got to the game that you slept through the third and fourth innings. I thought maybe we would have to leave before the game was over, but you proved me wrong. You did great!

Later in the week we got together with some friends that Momma and Daddy met in Lamaze class for a play date. Noah, Bella and Phoenix were all born in November, just like you. The four of you had lots of fun playing and Momma had fun chatting with the other Mommy’s comparing notes on how and what you little one’s were doing. We’re getting together every other week, now.

Your Uncle Todd moved in for the summer and you’ve even started trying to say his name. You say ‘te te te’, like you are trying to sound out a word that starts with T. I’m sure once he moves out, you will miss him terribly. It’s fun to see you two together, because I can remember back to when he was your age.

This past Friday, you went swimming for the very first time. You didn’t know what to think about the water at first, because it was a little chilly. But, once you got used to the water, you would kick your feet and splash with your hands. I think we’ve got a little water baby on our hands. I can’t wait to take you back to the pool!

You are sitting up well on your own, although you still sometimes tumble over, you are sleeping 11-12 hours at night, you are eating three solid meals a day (along with about 4 bottles of formula), and are taking three naps per day. Dr. Spencer said you are a textbook baby, he was quite impressed with you.

Time is flying by so fast, I want it to slow down, so I can spend more time with you the way you are. It is truly amazing watching you grow and reach milestone after milestone. I feel truly blessed with the awesome responsibility that is loving and caring for you as you grow.
