Seven Months

Dear Cooper,

Wednesday you turned seven months old. Wow, you’re growing up fast!

I can’t believe that in a few weeks, you’ll be crawling! You get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth. I’ve even seen a few downward dogs (on hands and feet, rear in the air). Every time I sit you down, you end up on your belly or knees trying to get around. You also barrel roll all over the place. If I look away even for a few seconds you can make it to the other side of the room.

At our last play date, you were the only one not teething. I think you felt left out because within a few days, you sprouted your two bottom teeth.

We went to the pool again and this time you went underwater for the first time. You didn’t cry at all. You had so much fun kicking and splashing and walking along the step holding the edge of the pool. You love the water. I can hold you out under your arms and you let your legs float behind you and you kick your feet. It’s amazing how relaxed and comfortable you are in the water.

You had your first bath without your baby seat in the sink. You love being able to splash in the water. Momma’s usually drenched by the time you’re clean.

We traveled to Dallas this month to celebrate your Great Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary. We took a big family portrait with everybody together (aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents) and then we went to your first 5-star restaurant, The Old Warsaw. Everyone was very impressed with how well behaved you were. You especially enjoyed playing with your cousins Mackenzie and Samantha.

You got sick for the first time this month, as well. It started off as a cold that just wouldn’t go away. The day after we went to the pool, you were really hoarse, so we went to see Dr. Spencer. He gave you some medicine for post-nasal drip, but unfortunately, it didn’t help quickly enough and it developed into an upper respiratory infection. Your cough is awful, but the antibiotics seem to be helping. You spent your 7 month birthday miserable. I could only put you down for a few minutes at a time. You just wanted to be held. That’s what I’m here for.
